Following the path of meditation throughout the ages is a rich and varied journey. Evidence of people embracing rhythmic, repetitive chants and offerings to their gods exists in prehistoric times. A practice that has existed and morphed throughout history is something to pay attention to. Henry Benson (Harvard Medical school cardiologist) did probably one of the most extensive studies of the effects of meditation back in the 60’s. Lowering blood pressure, changing brain waves, a tool for stress reduction……..studies consistently prove benefits. BUT it is a practice – start your day with 5, 10 minutes of meditation, the ease and benefits build the more consistent you are. Even “just trying” is better than doing n o t h i n g at all.
